ADVICE: Taking Care of Skin Problems

We all know what a struggle it can be dealing with bad skin. But maybe it’s not as bad as it seems. Let’s look at the positive and bright side to our skin problems.

Today I had a bit of an epiphany that I really want to share with you! In life I always try to be positive and believe that, no matter what, things happen for a reason.  I’ve come to the conclusion that the same applies for the skin problems. Now you might think ‘how on Earth can there be a positive to skin problems?!‘ But allow me to continue……..

When I was a teenager, I used to wear a lot of make-up and that made me happy – I was looking pretty and didn’t care much – as long as I was ‘covered’.  I only cleaned my face just before going to bed and made sure that I put some foundation on straight after showering in the morning.  The result of this was that although I had a bad skin condition I didn’t realise quite how bad it was and I didn’t take care of it properly because when I looked in the mirror I saw the made-up me, not my real face!

It’s now been two years since I stopped wearing make-up and I am still very happy about it. Seeing myself with some rashes on my face encourages me to say no to a piece of chocolate or other things that I am allergic to.  Even though I cannot wear make-up like other girls can, I am very happy about it.

So…..back to the positive of having skin problems.  The beauty of having skin problems is that you are automatically forced to live a healthier life! Using organic products, eating healthy food, using shower filters and so on… the list is endless! But these things can benefit everyone, not only people with skin issues.

Because of your skin problems you need to change your lifestyle into a healthier lifestyle. A few benefits of a healthier lifestyle and taking care of your skin(problems):

  • You will improve your immune system and prevent illnesses (even genetically gained ones!);
  • Exercise and eating nutritious food will lead to increased productivity and overall happiness;
  • You will not feel sleepy and tired all day;
  •  Your skin will glow and look fresh;
  •  You will look great when you get older;
  • Eventually your skin will look better, healthier and fresher!

 

You are indirectly forced to live a healthier life because it hurts seeing bad skin. And it is SO worth it – you won’t believe the results!

So don’t be upset – keep being healthy and one day you will achieve what you want to – as long as you stick to it!
